Amarnath: For the Ultimate Spiritual Experience

According to the Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva is known to be the strongest of all gods and is the creator of the universe. It is believed that Lord Shiva disclosed the secret behind the creation of the universe to his wife, Goddess Parvati at Amarnath cave. Therefore this place is of utmost religious importance for all Shiva devotees. This pious place is open only between the months of July and August as it remains unapproachable for the rest of the year. The Amarnath yatra is organized by the Jammu and Kashmir state government and due to the political disturbances in this area, the complete yatra is heavily guarded by military personnel.

Not only the cave shrine of Amarnath, but the whole experience of the yatra through the mystic valleys and majestic mountains creates an atmosphere of spiritualism. Words are not enough to explain the yatra. You definitely need to have a first-hand experience of this enchanting pilgrimage. Lord Shiva is represented by a Shiva Linga in the form of an ice stalagmite with size changing according to the moon’s position. It has been observed that the lingam reaches its maximum height of 6 feet on the full moon day between July and August.

With a height of almost 4175 meters, a trip to Amarnath should only be planned only if you are at the best of your health. Although pony services and helicopter services are available, devotees prefer to walk to the shrine. Amarnath yatra packages cannot be started without seeking permission from Government of India. You need to fill up an Amarnath yatra registration form in advance and are allowed to be a part of the yatra only after various verifications.
