Holiday in Goa: How to Reach Aguada Fort from Panaji

Fort Aguada is one of the prime attractions of Goa. Goa has a number of forts in its kitty. And Aguada Fort is definitely the most popular and the most historic of the lot. It stands majestically on the Sinquerim Beach and offers a magnificent view of the Arabian Sea. It is a 17th century fort built by the Portuguese during their colonial days.

The fort is a great specimen of Portuguese architecture. It has a heritage appeal to it and its history would instantly enamor any tourist. Built in 1612, the purpose of its construction was to safeguard the territory from British and the Maratha rulers. The Portuguese held a commanding sway on this fort which had an impregnable quality to it. It is said that this fort stayed invincible and never, for once, did it fail its original builders.

Sinquerim is not hailed amongst the best of Goa beaches. But the presence of the fort makes it one of the most coveted destinations in the whole of the state.

How to Reach Aguada Fort: Aguada Fort is very easily reachable by any private vehicle, including a car or a cab. It can also be reached through a motorbike. The fort is stationed at a small distance of 12 km from the capital city of Panaji. So, if you are staying in Panaji, you can reach the fort using any vehicular service in barely 20 minutes. Alternatively, if you want to save money, you can also catch a public bus.

Aguada Fort is also reachable from other parts of Goa including the town of Mapusa.

Overall, it is a historic and photogenic fort and must not be missed during your holiday in Goa. Try to visit during the sunset hours for the best scenic views.
