Eco-tourism is an alternative form of tourism that
carries on exploring the untainted natural treasures, but at the same time, not
to interfere with natural habitats and preserving the ecology of that region.
In the simplest form, eco-tourism is the non-destructive use of environment
that includes the activities like mountain trekking, wildlife safari, watching
scenery etc. India, with great geographical diversity and unique flora &
fauna, has tremendous potentials for eco-tourism prospects. Almost all the
states and territories, which have something for this new buzz phenomenon, are
promoting it and offering all possible assistance to attract eco-tourists.
Major destinations that support eco-tourism in India are
Shimla, Kashmir, Ooty, Mussoorie and, of course, the Andaman & Nicobar
Islands. All these regions have their unique and rich biodiversity, and entice
the travelers who want to feel the warm touch of nature. If Shimla and Ooty
travel is famous for the beautiful hills capped with unique greenery,
Andaman Islands are admired owing to their wonderful forests and beautiful
sea-shores. Promoting the concept of eco-tourism, these regions are
successfully handling the growing unemployment problem and boasting their
economical growth. Apart from that, infrastructure development and social
welfare in these regions are also some of the positive aspects of eco-tourism.
Since, eco-tourism is getting an extensive attention,
travel companies have also begun to focus on the destinations which are
naturally and culturally rich. They offer a variety of packages like Ooty
packages and Andaman
packages to help travelers find their way to eco-tourism. in fact, this
is also a supportive effort for eco-tourism in India.
