Its reputation as a beautiful, well-planned and proudly historical town imposed me to plan a date with Jaipur – the capital city of Rajasthan fondly dubbed as the ‘Pink City’. I was keen to see how a city can bound to its past in today’s’ race towards modernity. But far away from my expectations, Rajasthan’s capital does it well, without difficulty for most of its parts. I found a great combination of present and past, the apparatus associated to kings and engineers, historical palaces and contemporary gleaming buildings, in fact a puzzling mix the city is today known for.
To be sure, Jaipur is a bustling city that holds memories of glorious past. Exploring its ancient places including forts, temples, palaces and other monuments will let you know how wealthy the history of this city is. With colorful mix of varied arts & cultures, Jaipur travel entices the cultural enthusiasts as well. Here, you will food, shopping and entertainment truly awesome. My favorite dining venue was Chowki Dhani. Everyone was saying it an expensive place, but surprisingly, it was economical with lip smacking food. Shopping in lively Jaipur markets was also a great experience.
If you too are planning for a Jaipur tour from Delhi, I would suggest you to go by your own car – highway is safe and enjoyable to drive. To see, the historical places Hawa Mahal, Amer Fort, Jaigarh Fort, Nahargarh Fort, Jantar Mantar, City Palace, Birla Temple and Kanak Ghati are good option. If you want to uy some handicrafts, the city is famous for, go to the Ajmeri Gate. Here you will find an eye-popping collection of quality artifacts. However, don’t forget to book your hotel well in advance if you’re planning Jaipur tour in peak season.
