Spiritual Tour to Jagannath Puri

India is a country with religious and culture freedom. Here, people of varied religions live harmoniously, and the perfect epitome of it is visible through countless of temples, shrines and mosques available all across the country. When it comes to the Hindu temples in India, they stand glorious with their spiritual significance and architectural brilliance. Amongst all these grand abodes of Gods/Goddess, Jagannath Temple stands apart with its own significance.

Located in the sea-side city Puri in the Indian state of Orissa, this temple is primitively devoted to Lord Jagannath – an incretion of God Krishna. Being a part of Char Dham – four holy destinations where every Hindu wishes to visit at least once in lifetime, the Jagannath Temple retains high spiritual sentiments among Hindu devotees. Alongside the main temple, shrines of Subhadra – sister of God Krishna and the Lord Balabhadra are also situated. According to Hindu Myths, the main temple was constructed by the king Choda Ganga Deva after Lord Vishnu ordered him to do so in his dream. The temple is around 1000 years old and is unique in art and design.

Puri celebrates a rathyatra, popular as ‘Jagannath Puri Rathyatra’ that attracts millions of devotees annually. On this grand occasion, statues of Lord Jagannath and Balabhdra along with goddess Subhdra are taken from Jagannath Temple to Gundicha Mandir in a large cart driven by devotees themselves. These statues remain in Gundicha Mandir for 9 days, and then brought back to the Jagannath Temple.  The atmosphere at the festival is really joyful with a huge crowd of pilgrims participate in Rathyatra.  With so many people visit Jagannath Puri annually; many tour operators arrange tour to this holy city on customized basis.  They provide customized tour packages, and help pilgrims properly plan their tours. However, no matter whether you buy a Puri Package or an Andaman package, make it sure you buy it from a reliable source.
